Improvements underway at Oldbury Health Centre and Birmingham Road Primary Care Centre

Work is progressing on two projects to improve health facilities in Sandwell. Oldbury Health Centre and Birmingham Road Primary Care Centre are both part of the Sandwell Estates Partnership (SEP) LIFTCo portfolio, and both are being changed to make better use of their space.
The variation projects support the government’s aim to deliver more care in community settings and to move towards a more preventative model of care.

Oldbury Health Centre
At Oldbury, the variation work will create more clinical space on the ground floor and convert the vacant space on the first floor. The GP reception, administration areas and meeting rooms will also be remodelled, and the car park will be realigned. The project is approaching Financial Close, and construction is expected to take 30 weeks once work starts on site.

Birmingham Road Primary Care Centre
At Birmingham Road, the variation work will increase clinical accommodation on the ground floor and reconfigure a first-floor interview and group therapy room. It will also reduce empty and underused bookable space across both floors. Construction is expected to last 12 weeks, with completion planned for summer 2027.
The projects are being delivered in partnership by SEP, Community Health Partnerships, gbpartnerships and NHS Black Country Integrated Care Board (ICB).
